    Information Ownership

    Information that identifies you – PII or Personally Identifiable Information – is considered by us to be your property. All information that you disclose to us will be considered Personally Identifiable Information. We consider your Personally Identifiable Information to be protected by your copyright, and we consider your Personally Identifiable Information to be your secret, to be protected by intellectual property laws that protect copyright and trade secrecy, whether or not you have taken steps to claim copyright and trade secrecy protection. Specifically, we consider your Personally Identifiable Information to be part of a Personal Biographical Work that is protected by your Personal Nondisclosure Agreement (PersonalNDA) whether or not you have explicitly created those documents.

    Personally Identifiable Information that you share with us about yourself is therefore part of your MyOwnInformation files. By sharing it with us you have granted us a license to use it only as a part of our relationship with you and only for the purpose of maintaining that relationship.


    Website Visitors

    Council of Attestation Officers collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Council of Attestation Officers’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Council of Attestation Officers’s visitors in the aggregate use its website.
